Effingham banged out 17 hits and scored 16 runs in a 16-5 win over Mattoon in junior high softball action Tuesday.

The Mustangs' Layla McBride was the winner on the mound going three innings allowing five runs on five hits, two walks and one strikeout. Aubrey Poe came on to finish out the final two innings allowing no hits, one walk and striking out two.

Effingham took a 6-4 opening inning lead before adding on two in the second, one in the third and seven in the fourth.

Tessa Raddatz had two singles, two doubles and two RBI while Maci Hayes had two singles, a double and four RBI, Keagyn Koenig two singles, a triple and an RBI, Maci Kirk a single, double and two RBI, McBride two singles and two RBI and Kendyl Fearday a single and two RBI.

At Shelbyville

Effingham St. Anthony outlasted Shelbyville Moulton by a 22-19 count Tuesday.

The Bullpups tallied 17 hits and was helped with 10 walks from Moulton.

St. Anthony took an 8-5 opening inning lead and never relinquished it. Julia Schultz had two singles, a double and drove in two runs while Claire Kinkelaar finished with three singles and four RBI, Sophia Emmerich added three singles and three RBI, Gianna Frisbie three singles and two RBI and Aubrey Denning tallied two two RBI with a single.

Emeline Wines picked up the win, coming on in relief in the fifth and went three innings allowing eight runs on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

At Toledo

Cumberland edged out to a 7-4 opening inning lead on Altamont and went on to end the game in the fifth inning by a 19-6 count Tuesday.

Cumberland had 11 hits led by Tolen, Claybaugh, Sowers and Himes with two singles and an RBI each. Schnepper added a single and three RBI and Miller a single and two RBI.

Himes threw a four-hitter, allowing three walks while striking out seven.

Altamont was led by Ada Roberts, Laila Hankins, Ella Nelson and Justyce Higgs with a single each. Higgs had an RBI while Jenna Kollmann and Haley Arend added an RBI each.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg added another victim to the season by trouncing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 15-0 in three innings Tuesday.

WSS tallied seven in the first and eight in the second. The Hatchets' Johnson threw a no-hitter while the winners had eight hits.

Jasper County edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead and went on for a 12-2 victory in five innings over Dieterich Tuesday.

Allie Hermann had the big bat for Jasper County with a double, triple and four RBI. Maleah Miller had a triple while Georgia Reich had two singles and two RBI and Claire Probst two singles.

Miller was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk and striking out two in three innings.

Dieterich was led by K. Michl with a solo home run and C. Funneman with two singles and an RBI.
