Coach Tipton Garners 100th Career Win As Bulldogs Down Dieterich; Area Roundup

Coach Crystal Tipton picked up her 100th career victory as Effingham St. Anthony High School defeated Dieterich 10-2 in softball action Monday.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 first inning lead and tacked on two more in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth behind 12 hits. Makayla Walsh had two singles, a triple and drove in three runs while Hunter Niebrugge and D.J. Brummer had two singles and an RBI each. Kate Richards chipped in with a double and an RBI.

Walsh picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Dieterich was led by Higgs with a home run and an RBI and Vahling with two singles.

At Windsor

Windsor took a quick 2-0 lead and went on to down Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 11-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Lindsay Floyd pitched her fourth no-hitter of the season allowing one walk and striking out seven. The Blue Devils had nine hits in the contest led by Danielle Bell and Floyd with two singles and a double each. Floyd had three RBI while Bell had one. Whitney Kuhl had a single and drove in three runs while Kassy Strowmatt had two singles and an RBI.

BCCH drops to 1-7 on the season and 0-3 in the National Trail Conference.

At Windsor

Stewardson-Strasburg edged Sr. Elmo/Brownstown 4-1 in National Trail Conference play. The score was tied at 1-1 after three innings before Stew-Stras scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Knop was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts. Knop went three-for-three. The Comets improve to 3-1 in the conference, 5-5 overall.

Altamont blasted Neoga 17-0 in five innings behind a whopping 18 hits. Neoga committed six errors. Deidre Ledbetter had eight strikeouts in the two-hitter.

Ledbetter also aided her own cause by going four-for-four with three singles, a triple and two RBI. White had a single, double and two RBI and Alwerdt three singles and four RBI.

Neoga drops to 1-2 in the National Trail Conference, 3-5 overall.

Odin handed South Central a 7-1 loss. Odin led 3-1 after three innings then scored over the next three frames.

Burton picked up the win throwing a five-hitter with two walks and 11 strikeouts. Smith had two singles, a triple and an RBI for the winners while Perkins had a single and a double.

South Central was led by Macie Cain with a triple and an RBI. The Cougars drop to 3-5 on the season.

At Farina

Cumberland pushed its Little Illini Conference record to 6-1 on the season with a 4-0 win over Robinson.

Kaylee Carlen and Katie Poe combined to throw a no-hitter. Carlen went 5 2/3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts. Poe came on with the bases loadded in the sixth and two outs. She got out of the inning and got the save.

Taylor Lorton had two singles, a triple and an RBI to lead the Pirates who are 8-5 overall.
