The Millikin softball team won two games over Greenville College at home Wednesday. The Big Blue won game one 8-0 in five innings and rallied to win game two 6-5.

Game one was all Millikin with the Big Blue scoring a run in the second inning, putting up a six spot in the fourth inning and finishing the game off with a single run in the bottom of the fifth.

Lauren Kitterman got the win for Millikin throwing five shutout innings and allowing only three hits with six strikeouts.

Tess Strang led Millikin going 2-3 with a homerun and three RBIs. Freshman Alyssa Visvardis was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs. Janet Ellis was 2-2 and Becca Thompson was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Rachel Kindred drove home a run and scored twice.  Pinch hitter Anne Schwomeyer had a run scoring single.

Greenville came out strong in game two taking a 3-0 advantage in the second inning. Shannon Elbe and Andrea Martin had back-to-back homers for the Panthers in the first inning.

Millikin rallied to make in 3-2 in the bottom of the second on homers by Thompson and Visvardis.

Elbe had her second homer of the game in the third to make it 4-2 Greenville.

Kindred had a run scoring double in the bottom of the third to make it 4-3.

Millikin would take the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by Hillary Shelton, a Beecher City graduate, and a run scoring single by Raquel Rodriguez.

Martin had an RBI double in the top of the seventh for the Panthers to make it a one run game.

Kitterman got the win in relief for the Big Blue improving to 7-1 on the season.  She allowed two hits and one run with six strike outs over four and one third innings.

Visvardis, Strang, Kindred, Shelton, Thompson and Rodriguez each had two hits for Millikin.

The Big Blue are now 11-2 on the season and Greenville goes to 3-11.  Millikin opens CCIW play on Saturday, April 6 when they host Elmhurst College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
