Altamont Lone Area Winner in Softball

FARINA -- Altamont High School downed South Central in National Trail Conference softball action Wednesday, 13-9.
The Indians immediately stepped out to a 3-0 lead. But South Central tied the score in the fourth at 6-6 and took an 8-7 lead in the sixth. Altamont then rallied, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh for the victory.
Katie Grimsley led the Indians with two singles, a double and an RBI while Ashley Goeckner had a double, triple and two RBI. Shelbi Stone had two singles and two RBI and Caitlyn White had a single and double. Mary Guse added three singles and Tinley Mette had a triple and four RBI.
The Cougars were led by Serina Lee with two singles and a double, Lexie Reid with two singles, Zoe Johnston with two singles and an RBI, Kayli Swift with a single, double and two RBI and Jordan Geiler with a double and three RBI.
Altamont improves to 2-0 in the conference, 3-4 overall. South Central drops to 2-2 in the conference, 4-2 overall.

At Ramsey
Ramsey edged St.Elmo/Brownstown, 6-5 in action Wednesday.
SEB took a 2-0 first inning lead and led 4-3 after three innings. Ramsey tied in the fourth. SEB moved ahead with a run in the fifth. Ramsey then won it in the bottom of the seventh.
SEB was led by Natalie Oberlink with a double, home run and two RBI while Makenzie Parkison had two singles and an RBI.

Villa Grove claimed an 8-6 win over Cumberland Wednesday.
The Pirates took a 3-0 lead but Villa Grove tied in the second. Cumberland held a 6-5 lead in the fourth but, once again, here came Villa Grove, this time with three runs for the win.
Cumberland outhit Villa Grove 11-9. The Pirates were led by Madison Hendrix with a solo home run, Sadie Oakley with two doubles and two RBI and Liberty Dunaway with a single, double and three RBI.

Charleston handed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg an 8-7 loss in nine innings Wednesday.
WSS held a 5-1 lead after four innings and led 7-6 after six. Charleston tied in the bottom of the seventh and won it in the ninth.
WSS was led by Megan Schlechte with a single, two home runs and four RBIs. Mackenzie Reynolds had a single, double and an RBI and Taylor Rentfro a double and an RBI.
