NOKOMIS -- St. Elmo/Brownstown High School captured the championship of the Nokomis Softball Tournament Saturday.
The Eagles tallied a 3-1 victory over Pana in the opening contest. The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. SEB then moved ahead with a run in the fourth and finished out with a run in the sixth.
Brown had a single and triple for SEB while Moss added two singles, Nolen a double and Maxey a triple and an RBI.
In the second contest, SEB banged home 14 runs for a 14-7 win over host Nokomis.
SEB had a whopping 19 hits in the contest led by Brown with two singles, a double, triple, home run and seven RBI. Maxey added two singles, two doubles and three RBI while Moss had three singles, Oberlink, two singles and Scholes two singles.

At Altamont
In Friday competition, Altamont claimed a 6-1 victory over Newton.
The Indians trailed Newton 1-0 in the top of the second but came back with a three-run bottom of the frame then added on two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Biggs was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter with one walk and two strikeouts.
Kopplin had a double and drove in a run for the Indians. Stone had a single, double and an RBI, Shryock two singles and an RBI and Goeckner a double and an RBI.
Altamont improves to 6-5 on the season.
