St. A Competes At Meade Co. Softball Tourney, SEB at Fairfield

Effingham St. Anthony High School competed at the Meade County Softball Tournament and finished with a 1-2 record Friday and Saturday.

Lyon County claimed the opening game against the Bulldogs 7-0. Lyon County stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and had a four-run third.

St. Anthony had three hits led by Woltman with a double.

In the second game, St. Anthony pounded Valley 10-0. The Bulldogs took a 3-0 first inning lead then added on two in the second and five in the fourth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Kabbes and Coffin had a double each. Kabbes added an RBI. Gibson had triple and three RBI and Day a single and two RBI. Seachrist did not have a hit but had two RBI.

Coffin picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter wiht one walk and eight strikeouts.

In the final contest, St. Anthony fell to Collins, a team from Kentucky, 12-2 in five innings. St. Anthony trailed only 2-1 after the first inning but Collins scored in every inning, ending the game in the fifth with five runs.

Woltman had a single, double and an RBI for the Bulldogs.

At Fairfield

St. Elmo/Brownstown competed in the Fairfield Tournament and finished 0-2.

Norris City/Omaha-Enfield downed St. Elmo/Brownstown 11-2 in five innings.

SEB had seven hits in the game led by Parkison with three singles and an RBI, Russell with two singles and Nolen with a double.

In the second contest, SEB fell to Fairfield 11-0 in four innings.

Fairfield banged out 12 hits in the game and had a six-run second inning.

SEB had three hits, all singles by Parkison, Maxey and Moss.
