St. Anthony had a five-run second inning and went on to post a 9-1 softball victory over Nokomis Tuesday.

The Bulldogs banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Jenna Woltman with two singles, a double and two RBI, Abbie Schmidt with two singles and Liz Day with a single, double and two RBI.

Maddie Schuette pitched a six-hitter with six walks and a strikeout.

At Neoga

Effingham jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead and ended the game in the fifth inning via the 10-run rule, 19-0 over Neoga.

Hope Collier pitched a no-hitter with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Collier also had a big day at the plate with two singles, a double and two RBI. Jenna Wright hit a two-run homer in the fourth and also had two singles and finished with five RBI.

The Hearts improve to 14-4 overall and stand at 4-2 in the Apollo Conference with a Thursday doubleheader against Salem at 4 p.m.

At Neoga

At Mulbrry Grove

Mulberry Grove edged Altamont 8-7 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday.

The Indians held a 3-1 lead after one but trailed Mulberry Grove 7-6 after three. The Indians tied in the seventh sending the game into the eighth. Mulberry Grove came back in the bottom of the frame to claim the win.

Altamont outhit Mulberry Grove 15-13 but had five errors. The Indians were led by Winters with three singles, Burns, Duckwitz, Biggs, Shryock and Goeckner with two singles each. Duckwitz had an RBI.

Altamont drops to 9-17 on the season.

Ramsey tallied a 13-2 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Ramsey edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead then had a four-run second and a six-run third.

BCCH had three hits, all singles by Timber Gates, Isabella Doty and Laura Berg. BCCH drops to 1-12 on the season.

Cumberland played host to Newton and edged the Eagles 3-2.

Newton held a 1-0 lead until the fourth then tacked on another run for a 2-0 lead. Cumberland tied in the bottom of the sixth and produced the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Liberty Dunaway picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with six strikeouts.

Jenna McMechan had two singles and Dunaway two singles and an RBI.

Newton was led by Shipman, Frohning, Earnest and Cohorst with a snigle each. Frohning and Cohorst had an RBI each.
