Junior High Softball -- Saturday, Aug. 30

Effingham hosted Flora and Teutopolis in junior high softball competition Saturday.

T-town picked up a 10-5 win over the Mustangs. Effingham held a 1-0 lead until the third and T-town tallied four runs. Effingham tied in the top of the fifth but T-town came back with a six-run sixth.

Mette had two singles while Niemerg had two singles and drove in three runs for T-town. Effingham was led by Kinkelaar with a double and an RBI and Schafer with two singles.

T-town fell to Floyd Henson 9-3. Floyd Henson had 12 hits in the game led by Darrough with two singles, a double and two RBI, Wilson with a double, Rudy with two singles and an RBI, Schafer with a single, double and two RBI and Wheeler with two singles and two RBI.

T-town's Brumleve had three singles and drove in two runs while Gebben added a double.

Effingham trounced Floyd Henson 15-5 in six innings. Flora held a 3-1 first inning lead and the two teams were tied at 5-5 in the second. Effingham then pushed ahead with two in the third and never looked back.

Kaylee Phillips had a single, triple and three RBI for the Mustangs. Kiyah Kuhlman added a double and two RBI. Kaitlyn Kinkelaar had a double, home run and an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed a 12-2 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in four innings.

SEB tallied three runs in each of the four innings. Gathe went three-for-three with two singles, a double and two RBI. Curry added a double and an RBI. SEB is now 3-7 on the season and 1-2 in National Trail Conference play.
