T-town Blanks Sullivan, Dieterich, SEB Drop Softball Losses

SULLIVAN -- Teutopolis High School blanked Sullivan 5-0 in opening softball competition Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes scored a run in the second to take the early lead then scored three more in the fourth and the final run in the sixth.

Kadi Borries picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts. Allison Apke had a single and a double while Anni Borries had two singles and an RBI for the Shoes.

T-town also claimed the junior varsity contest 11-5. Sidney Brumleve was the winning pitcher and Jessica Drees got the save.

At Flora

Flora bounced St. Elmo/Brownstown 14-4 in six innings. SEB took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first but Flora tied in the bottom of the frame and took a 7-2 lead in the second. The Wolves ended the game in the bottom of the sixth with two runs for the 10-run rule.

Flora had 10 hits in the contest and St. Elmo/Brownstown aided the Wolves with six errors.

SEB was led by Moss and Pruett with two hits each. Pruett added an RBI.

At Strasburg

Moweaqua Central A&M edged Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor 7-6 Tuesday.

Central A&M held a 4-0 lead after three innings and 7-1 after five. Stew-Stras/Windsor mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs, only to fall short.

Both teams had eight hits in the contest. Stew-Stras/Windsor committed five errors. Stew-Stras/Windsor was led by Knop with a double, tirple and an RBI, Ferris with a double and an RBI and M. Quast with a double and an RBI.

Marshall claimed an 8-1 victory over Dieterich in opening play Tuesday.

Grooms picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Thoele suffered the loss allowing six hits, four walks and striking out seven.

Dieterich was led by Higgs with a single, home run and an RBI.
