Grace Hakman has signed a letter of intent to compete in soccer for Kaskaskia College next season.

Hakman, the daughter of Chris and Dana Hakman, is a senior at Effingham St. Anthony High School.,

Kaskaskia competes in women's soccer during August, September and October and finished with an 11-5 record last season.

"One thing I'll need to work on in order to play at the college level would be seeing the whole field at once and being aware of my teammates' positions," said Hakman.

"My strengths are my speed and ability to take on an opponent right at their feet. Playing with only boys since a young age has made me accustomed to a physical, high speed game, so, hopefully that will help me ease into college soccer."

Hakman will major in biology.

"I chose Kaskaskia because their women's soccer program has been very successful and the coach demands his players give all of their effort," said Hakman. "They also have a great campus and the advisor was super helpful in preparing my academics. Overall, it had that 'home' feel that I was looking for."

Hakman has lettered in varsity sports all four years at St. Anthony and has always been on high honors. She also played softball for the Bulldogs.
