In this community no one fights alone: Be Bold, Wear Gold.

For Childhood Cancer Awareness month, the Teutopolis soccer team is having a fundraiser for two local families affected by cancer.  Jenny and Nick Kinkelaar are the parents of five month old Vivie who is battling Retinoblastoma.  Jody and Matt Lohman are the parents of two month old Dawson who is battling Neuroblastoma.

The team is placing a goodwill donation bucket at the entrance to the game Monday, September 23 when the Wooden Shoes play the Effingham Hearts soccer team.  All money from the donations will be given to the families to help with costs from the disease.  There will also be a tip jar at the concession stand.

Teutopolis fans are asked to wear gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness and the Effingham fans can wear red for love and support.

Game time is 4 p.m. for the junior varsity and approximately 5:30 p.m. for the varsity.  Come out and watch two area teams; it’s sure to be an exciting game.

Jeff Kenter is the grandpa to Dawson and he is the person who takes care of the Teutopolis soccer fields.
