Altamont Wins Opening Soccer Match at Regional

ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School blanked Piasa Southwestern in opening round play of the Class 1A Altamont Soccer Regional Friday.

The Indians tallied three goals in the first half as Donovan Delaney scored at 21:13 on an assist by Kolby Brewer. Jason Burns then scored unasssisted at 8:04. Noah Klimpel nailed a shot in the goal at 4:32 on an assist by Jason  Burns.

Delaney came back in the second half with his second goal at 12:25. Isaac Crow assisted. Klimpel then tallied his second goal at 9:25, again on an assist by Burns.

Altamont had 34 shots, 26 on goal. Quinn Verdeyen had two saves.

Piasa Southwestern had two shots on goal and 21 saves.

Altamont now advances to face Newton at 5 p.m. Wednesday followed by Staunton Co-op against Hillsboro at 7 p.m.  The winners advance to the championship match Friday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 1A St. Anthony Regional

Rosamond Faith Bible Christian Academy picked up a first round win in the St. Anthony Regional  Friday.

Rosamond downed Pana, 2-1. Rosamond now advances to face Teutopolis at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
