EHS, Olney Tie, Altamont Downs CORL in Soccer

OLNEY -- Effingham and Olney played to a 3-3 tie in soccer competition Monday.

Victor Carillo tallied two goals for the Hearts while Bryan Angel added the other goal.

Ethan Boggs had five saves.

In the junior varsity game, Olney was a 5-0 winner. Brandon Duncan had six saves for the Hearts.

 

At Altamont

Altamont easily handled Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Monday, 6-1.

In the opening half, Isaac Crow and Donovan Delaney teammed up for two goals. Crow scored both on an assist from Delaney.

In the second half, Sabastian Thompson scored two goals to push the Indians lead to 4-0 on the season. Thompson scored at 25:08 on an assist by Jason Burns. He then tallied another goal at 21:29 unassisted.

Hayden Voelker then scored at 13:43 to make it 5-0 on an assist by Burns. Joey Fenton then scored with an assist by Voelker at 5:24.

CORL finally tallied a goal at 2:10.

Altamont had 37 shots, nine on goal. Quinn Verdeyen had four saves.

CORL had nine shots, five on goal and three saves.

 

At Newton

Newton claimed a 4-1 win over Mount Carmel Monday.

The Eagles had goals from Ross Farley, Cole Farley, Sean Brody and Toni Tortella. Griffin Smith had an assist.

Newton is now 13-1-1 on the season.
