Altamont Plays to Tie, St. A, EHS Lose in Soccer

Faith Bible Christian Academy came calling at Effingham St. Anthony and handed the Bulldogs a 2-0 loss in soccer competition Thursday.

FBCA recorded its first goal with 28 minutes left in the first half. St. Anthony's Jack Elder had five saves in the opening half. In the second half, FBCA tallied its second goal with 28 minutes remaining. Reilly Ashston was the goalkeeper in the second half and had six saves.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match, 3-1. Elder scored first for the Bulldogs assisted by Wade Lawrence who also scored the other two goals.

 

At Mount Zion

Mount Zion edged Effingham 2-1 in soccer action Thursday.

Victor Carillo had the lone goal for the Hearts. Ethan Boggs had 11 saves.

The Braves also captured the junior varsity match, 3-1. Scoring for EHS was Francisco Guerrero. Brandon Duncan had six saves.

 

At Olney

Altamont and Olney played to a 0-0 tie Thursday in soccer play.

The Indians had 10 shots, three on goal. Verdeyen had two saves while Stuckemeyer had one save.

Olney had 13 shots, three on goal and finished with three saves.

Altamont is now 5-7-2 on the season.

The Indians also tied Olney 0-0 in the junior varsity contest. Altamont is now 4-2-1.
