Pana High School came calling at Effingham St. Anthony in soccer competition and the Bulldogs sent the Panthers home with a 2-1 loss Saturday.

The Bulldogs took the lead quickly with two minutes into the first half. Braeden Quandt scored from an assist by Trey Brummer.

Two minutes later, Luke Swingler scored the second goal from a throw-in assist by Quandt.

Jack Elder played 70 minutes and had eight saves.

"We suffered some injuries on key players, but we were able to keep Pana scoreless until two minutes were left in the second half," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "A well placed pass and shot was put in the back of our net."
