St. A, Altamont Play to 3-3 Soccer Tie

Effingham St. Anthony and Altamont played to a 3-3 tie in varsity soccer competition Tuesday.

Altamont scored first with nine minutes left in the first half. Luke Swingler scored a header from a crossed by Braedon Quandt with eight minutes left to tie the score for the Bulldogs.

But, Altamont scored its second goal with two minutes left in the first half to regain the lead.

St. Anthony's Jack Elder had 10 saves.

In the second half, Altamont went up to a 3-1 lead with 38 minutes left in the match.

St. Anthony's Braeden Quandt scored after taking a penalty with seven minutes left and again with three minutes remaining from an assist by Will Swingler to tie the score at 3-3.

In the junior varsity match, Luke Swingler scored with 10 left in the first half and Altamont scored three goals in the second half for a 3-1 victory.
