Teutopolis Edges St. Anthony; Effingham Ties Charleston Thursday

Teutopolis edged St. Anthony 4-3 Thursday.

Teutopolis scored all of its goals in the first half, with 35 minutes, 23 minutes, 17 minutes and 7 minutes left.

For St. Anthony, Braedon Quandt scored from an assist by Jack Elder with 15 minutes left in the first half.

In the second half, Quandt scored again from an assist by Elder with 28 minutes remaining. 10 minutes later, Moises Lemus scored from about 25 feet out.

Freshman Joel Buenker was in goal the first 15 minutes of the game and had four saves. Sophomore Reilly Ashton tended goal the rest of the game and had 11 saves.

St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes said, "I'm really proud of how the team played in the second half."

St. Anthony won the JV contest over Teutopolis 3-0. The Bulldogs got goals from Reilly Ashton, Luke Swingler and George Scheidemantel.

Effingham and Charleston tied 1-1 on Thursday.

Said "Bryan" Angel scored the lone Effingham goal. Ethan Boggs had 17 saves in goal for the Hearts.

Charleston won the JV contest 3-0. Dylan Cunningham had 12 saves for Effingham.
