St. A, EHS in Soccer Tournaments

Effingham St. Anthony High School will be hosting its own soccer invitational Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Teams included are Teutopolis, Altamont, Harrisburg, Mount Carmel, Salem and Greenville.

The event begins with two matches Thursday as Teutopolis takes on Salem at 4 p.m. followed by Altamont facing Mount Carmel at 5:15. St. Anthony will meet Greenville at 4 p.m. Friday.

The round robin format will continue with two matches Friday and finish out with eight matches Saturday.

Thursday, Aug. 23

Match 1 -- Teutopolis vs. Salem, 4 p.m.

Match 2 -- Mount Carmel vs. Altamont, 5:15 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 24

Red and Gold Tournament

Charleston High School will play host to the Red and Gold Soccer Tournament Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The event will be played on two fields.

In the Red Division are Effingham, Newton, Murphysboro and Charleston. The Gold Division includes Centralia, Charleston, Olney and Mattoon. The Junior Varsity Division includes Effingham, Centralia, Mattoon and Olney.

The event begins Wednesday with two matches at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Effingham's JV meets Mattoon JV at 4 p.m. followed by Effingham varsity taking on Charleston JV at 5:30.

The tourney ends Saturday with five matches on tap on the West Field and five on the East Field.
