CARBONDALE -- Effingham High School saw it's soccer season come to a close in the Class 2A Carbondale Regional Tuesday evening.

The Hearts fell to Carterville Co-op 2-1. Scoring the lone goal for EHS was Cooper Jackson with an assist from Victor Carillo.

"We played a great game," said EHS Coach Lee Althoff. "It was the best game we've played all season. I just want to thank the players for all they did."

In the opener, Carbondale pounded Salem 10-0.

Carbondale and Carterville Co-op will meet for the regional championship Saturday at 1 p.m.
