EHS Trounces Taylorville in Soccer, Senior Night Thursday

TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham High School traveled to Tornado country Saturday and blanked the host squad 7-0 in soccer competition.

The Hearts scored all seven goals in the first half. Cooper Jackson had two goals. The first came on an assist by Said Angel and the second on an assist by Noah Mulheron.

Angel tallied two goals of his own, both unassisted.

Victor Carrillo scored an unassisted goal while Danny Hortenstine scored with an assist from Angel. Josh Bowlin also scored with an assist from Angel.

Ethan Boggs had two saves.

The Hearts will have Senior Recognition Night Thursday. EHS will play host to Lincoln. The ceremony for the players will take place after the varsity match which begins at 3:30 p.m. Approximate ceremony time is around 4:30 p.m.

The varsity start time was changed in an effort to get both varsity and junior varsity  matches completed before dark.
