St. Anthony Closes Out Regular Season On Winning Note; Hearts Lose in Conference Action

The St. Anthony High School soccer team won their road match Thursday, downing Teutopolis 2-0.

Senior Nick Goeckner scored once. St. Anthony got their other goal on a throw-in by Braeden Quandt that deflected off a Teutopolis player.

The match closed out the regular season for the Bulldogs. They finished the regular season 10-8-1. St. Anthony will face Pana in regional action at Altamont on Wednesday at 6pm.

Effingham fell to Charleston Thursday 5-1 in Apollo Conference action.

Effingham's lone goal was scored in the second half by Danny Hortenstine from 30 yards out.

Boggs had nine saves for Effingham.
