Hearts, Eagles Winners in Soccer Action

Effingham High School traveled to Vandalia and pounded home five goals for a 5-0 victory over the homestanders in soccer action Thursday.

Mulheron tallied a hat-trick for the Hearts with three goals. He scored at 33 minutes with an assist by Jackson. Then a minute later, he scored again with another assist by Jackson. His final goal came with 12 minutes in the opening half on an assist by  Blake.

Hortenstine scored the final goal in the opening half with two minutes, unassisted.

In the second half, Hazelton scored with five minutes on the clock unassisted.

Easley finished with two saves. The Hearts are now 3-3 on the season.

 

At Newton

Newton played host to Altamont and sent the Indians home with a 7-0 defeat Tuesday.

Newton held a 6-0 lead at the half then scored one more goal in thes econd half.

Altamont had four shots, three on goal. Brenynne Abendroth had one save.

Neotn took 16 shots, 12 on goal and had three saves.

Altamont drops to 2-4 on the season.
