EHS Picks Up Seventh Victory

OLNEY -- Effingham High School got back on the winning track with a 3-1 victory over Olney in soccer action Tuesday.
Matt Steffen got the Hearts on the scoreboard with a goal at 11:14 in the first half. Steffen got an assist from Caleb Gadberry. Olney came back to knot the score when Alex St. Pierre scored with 8:59 remaining in the half. The score stood tied at the half.
Effingham then came back in the second half with a goal by Ivan Carrillo on an assist from Kyle Lustig at 31:32. Andrew Knight then added a buffer goal on a penalty kick with 37:37 into the second half.
Effingham had nine shots on goal and Dalton Steele had one keeper save. Olney had two shots on goal and Seth Umfleet had seven keeper saves.
The Hearts are now 7-1-1 on the season.
In the junior varsity contest, Effingham edged the Tigers 1-0. Michael Carie scored on an assist by Tyler Katz. The Hearts are 6-2.
