Sharks Sink Senators

(Ottawa, Ontario) -- James Sheppard and Tommy Wingels each had a goal and an assist to pace the Sharks to a 5-2 win over the Senators in Ottawa.  Tomas Hertl, Andrew Desjardins and Joe Pavelski also lit the lamp for San Jose, which improved to 10-1-1. Alex Stalock made 38 saves in net for the victors. Erik Karlsson and Marc Methot each posted a goal for Ottawa, which slipped to 4-5-2. Craig Anderson stopped 24 shots in defeat.

 

Bolts Beat Panthers In SO

(Sunrise, FL) -- Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner in the fourth round of the shootout to give the Lightning a 4-3 win over the Panthers at BT&T Center.  Stamkos also tallied his eighth goal of the season in regulation for Tampa Bay, which improved to 8-3. Martin St. Louis and Radko Gudas each lit the lamp in the win. Anders Lindback made 29 stops in net for the victors. Jacob Markstom stopped 25 shots in the setback. Brad Boyes tied the game with 11 minutes to play in the third period while Nick Bjugstad and Shawn Matthais also scored for Florida, which dipped to 3-7-2.

 

Kings Beat Oilers In Shootout

(Los Angeles, CA) -- The Kings closed out a four-game homestand with a 2-1 shootout win over the Oilers Sunday. Anze Kopitar beat Richard Bachman to move Los Angeles to 8-4-0. Jonathan Quick stopped 17-of-18 shots in regulation and OT plus 2-of-3 in the shootout. LA faces the Coyotes in Glendale Tuesday night.   

 

Ducks Zip Up Blue Jackets

(Columbus, OH) -- Corey Perry scored late in the third to lift the Ducks to a 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Perry added an assist while Emerson Etem, Peter Holland and Ryan Getzlaf also scored for Anaheim. Frederik Andersen halted 18 shots in goal for the Ducks, who have won two straight to move to 9-3. Anaheim is at the Flyers Tuesday night.

 

Avs Come Back, Ground Jets

(Denver, CO) -- Jan Hejda and Paul Stastny each scored in the third period to lift the Avalanche to a 3-2 win over the Jets last night at Pepsi Center. Matt Duchene also scored while Semyon Varlamov halted 23 shots as Colorado improved to 10-1. The Avs play at Dallas Friday night.  

 

Blackhawks Wrap Set With Wild

(St. Paul, MN) -- The Blackhawks wrap up a home-and-home set with the Wild tonight in Minnesota. Chicago dropped the first half of the set on Saturday night at United Center, 5-3. The 'Hawks are now 6-2-3 on the season. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.

 

Blues In Action Tuesday

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues return to the ice Tuesday at home against the Winnipeg Jets. St. Louis is 6-1-2 on the season after a win over Nashville Saturday. But the Blues lost forward Magnus Paajarvi to an upper-body injury over the weekend. He could be out for some time.

 

Sabres Ship Vanek To Islanders

The Buffalo Sabres have traded left wing Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders. The Isles will send forward Matt Moulson, a first round pick in next year's draft and a second round pick in 2015 to Buffalo. Vanek is a former fifth-overall selection and has played all nine seasons of his NHL career with the Sabres.
