Harvick Outlasts Field For Win At Kansas

(Kansas City, KS) -- Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick battled through a season-high 15 cautions and fought off Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon late for a win in Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. Harvick says this was an excellent weekend for the team.

It was Harvick's third victory of the season and the 22nd of his Sprint Cup career. Busch finished second followed by Gordon, Joey Logano and Carl Edwards. Jimmie Johnson crossed sixth and pulled to within three points of 11th-place finisher Matt Kenseth for the lead in the Chase standings.  Harvick's win vaulted him to third in the points, 25 back of Kenseth.  The fifth race in the Chase is next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

 

Franchitti, Fans Injured In Crash In Grand Prix Of Houston

(Houston, TX) -- A wild crash on the final lap of the Grand Prix of Houston has injured more than a dozen fans as well as driver Dario Franchitti. Officials say at least 13 people were injured and two were transported to the hospital.  The "Indy Star" says Franchitti suffered a spinal fracture, a fractured right ankle and a concussion.
