Blackhawks Erase 3-1 Series Deficit; Down Red Wings In Game Seven
(Chicago, IL) -- Brent Seabrook scored 3:35 into overtime to lift the Blackhawks past the Red Wings 2-1 in Game Seven of their Western Conference semifinal series at the United Center. The 'Hawks move on to play the Los Angeles Kings in the West final. Seabrook says it's great to keep their season alive.
Patrick Sharp scored in regulation for Chicago, which became the 25th team in NHL history to win a series after trailing three-games-to-one. Corey Crawford kicked aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced in the victory. Henrik Zetterberg scored the lone goal 26 seconds into the third period for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 33 shots in defeat. For just the second time in the history of the league, the final four teams remaining in the playoffs are the four most recent Stanley Cup winners.
Rangers Fire Head Coach Tortorella
(New York, NY) -- The New York Rangers have fired head coach John Tortorella. The Rangers went 26-18-and-4 during the regular season to earn the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. They lost to the Bruins in five games in the second round of the playoffs. Tortorella had been at the helm since February 2009.
