Red Wings Take Commanding Lead On Blackhawks
(Detroit, MI) -- Jimmy Howard posted 28 saves as the Red Wings blanked the Blackhawks 2-0 to grab a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinals. Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg says Howard was great in net for them.
Jakub Kindl and Daniel Cleary each scored a goal for Detroit, which is one win away from the Western finals. Corey Crawford gave up one goal on 26 shots for Chicago, which hosts Game Five Saturday.
Kings Shutout Sharks
(Los Angeles, CA) -- Jonathan Quick posted his third shutout of this postseason as the Kings blanked the Sharks 3-0 to take a 3-2 lead in their Western Conference semifinals. Quick stopped 24 shots for Los Angeles, which is just one win away from the West finals. Anze Kopitar, Slava Voynov and Jeff Carter all lit the lamp for the Kings. Antti Niemi made 26 saves for San Jose, which hosts Game Six Sunday.
Patrick Roy New Coach Of Colorado Avalanche
(Denver, CO) -- Patrick Roy is returning to the Avalanche. The legendary goaltender was named as the team's head coach and vice president of hockey operations yesterday. The team says Roy is going to help Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic in all player personnel decisions. Roy spent eight seasons with the Avs, leading them to a pair of Stanley Cup victories.
