Second Annual Get Bookin' 5K Run a Success

The second annual Get Bookin’ Family 5K Run and Walk raised more than $1,500 towards the new library fund. Over 80 runners and walkers signed up for the 5K which took place Saturday, April 27 during the Artisan Fair weekend.

The overall winner was J.R. Elder in a time of 20:35. First place woman was Carrie Wegman in a time of 21:27 (Wegman also came third overall.) The first youth runner was Evie Strullmyer, who completed the course in 27:39 (11th overall.)

In the run up to the 5K, Helen Matthes Library offered a Couch to 5K program in conjunction with Ben Siemer of Siemerworks. Jason Vahling, one of the Couch to 5K participants completed his first ever 5K in a time of 24:56 and placed fifth overall.

"The library would like to thank all those who took part and those who volunteered for and helped promote the event," said Catherine Bailey.
