Blackhawks Dismantle Red Wings
(Detroit, MI) -- Brandon Saad and Dave Bolland scored twice as the Blackhawks crushed the Red Wings in Detroit Sunday, 7-1. Chicago scored three times in the first five minutes to take control. Jeremy Morin, Jonathan Toewsand Nick Leddy also tallied for the Blackhawks, who moved to 26-5-and-3. The 'Hawks return home to face the Predators tonight.
Blues At Wild
(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Blues return to the ice tonight facing off with the Wild on the road. St. Louis is beginning a stretch of six of their next seven games away from home. The Blues are 17-14-2, while Minnesota is 21-11-2.
The St. Louis Blues have acquired defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres send the Blues a second round and fifth round selection in this season's draft. The 30-year-old blueliner registered two goals and six assists in 24 games for the Sabres this season. In 610 games over 10 seasons, Leopold has totaled 65 goals and 202 points.
Penguins' Crosby Out Indefinitely With Broken Jaw
(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is out indefinitely after surgery Saturday night for a broken jaw. Crosby also had major dental work after taking a deflected puck to the mouth in the team's 2-0 win over the New York Islanders. He did not need to have his jaw wired, although he did lose a few teeth. Crosby leads the team in scoring with 15 goals and 41 points this season. The Penguins have won 15 in-a-row.
