The St. Anthony bowling teams were soundly defeated by Alton, Monday at Alton. Alton won the boys match 3,079 to 2,586 and claimed the girls contest 2,584 to 1,584.

"Alton is one of the top programs in the state," said Coach Phil Zaccari, "Their teams routinely make it to the state finals so it was an opportunity for us to gain experience and to learn from one of the best. For the most part the guys did OK. We shot our second best score of the year. We are still having major problems picking up the 10 pin. Liam had a solid night leading us with a 609 series.

"The girls had a little tougher time tonight," continued Zaccari, "Natalie Goeckner did score
another personal best series and game tonight. As a team we had trouble with finishing spares. We probably had close to 60 frames of nine pins, that last pin just would not fall tonight. We are improving though and for a team of mostly underclassmen that is a good thing," concluded Zaccari.
