The St. Anthony boys bowling team competed in the O'Fallon Panther Team Challenge Invitational Saturday.
"We competed very well Saturday," said Coach Phil Zaccari. "St. Clair Bowl set up a pretty tough shot that a lot of teams had trouble with. We were sitting in 27th after the individual games that is 15 spots higher than last year so we were pretty happy.
"Neil Ritz led the way for us and bowled pretty well for the day, James Ritz also did well. Zaine Reiss bowled great considering he was fighting a low fever. When we went to the Baker Format (where the entire team bowls a game, similar to a batting line-up in baseball) we stumbled a little. The lanes started to break down and we had trouble converting spares. Overall it was a good performance for us.
"Sectionals are in a couple of weeks and we are showing tremendous improvement over last year," concluded Zaccari.
