Greg and Flex, a horse named after XEF/KJ Country's George Flexter and Greg Sapp, finished third in an elimination of the two-year-old colt pace last week at the Illinios State Fair in Springfield.  That qualified him for the $40,000 race for his division last Thursday.

However, Greg and Flex didn't get to display his greatness after his race, along with three other races, were weathered out. The race was moved to Balmoral Park Sunday. He ended up with a third place finish for driver Michael Oosting. Taking first was Fox Valley Action in 1:53.4 and second went to Darth Quaider.

Several other area horsemen and women took part in Sunday's action at Balmoral. Altamont's Ray Hanna trained Southern Party and she captured the 2-Year-Old FIlly Pace Championship in 1:56.3. Also in that race was a horse trained by Altamont's Pamela Colman. Little Miss Kathy finished ninth.

Newton's Jared Finn drove High Stepper to a fourth place finish in the 2-Year-Old Filly Championship Trot. Finn also trains High Stepper. Winning that race was Trot Fudge Sundae in 1:59. Finn was also behind Powerful Valor in the 2-Year-Old Colt & Gelding Championship Trot and finished seventh. Winning was Powerful Poe in 1:58.1.
