South Central Takes 14th, Newton 33rd at Bass Fishing State Final

CARLYLE -- South Central High School captured 14th place out of 66 teams at the Illinois High School Association Bass Fishing State Final at Carlyle Lake during the weekend.

Moline won with 10 fish weighing a total of 26 8/16 pounds. The champion was followed by Pinckneyville 23 14/16, Highland No. 1 21 9/16, Zion-Benton No. 2 21 2/16, West Frankfort 20 10/16, Washington 20, Highland No. 2 19 14/16, Elkville Elverado 19 6/16, Fox Lake (Grant) 19 1/16 and Robinson 18 4/16 in the top 10.

South Central tallied four fish weighing 7 3/16 pounds Friday and five fish weighing 7 4/16 pounds Saturday for a total of 14 7/16. Members of the team are Dalton Courson, Gunner Huddlestun, Dalton Hayes and Trevor Butts. Driver was Gary Payne.

Newton ended up tied with Atwood-Hammond for 33rd with one fish Friday weighing 2 9/16 pounds and one fish Saturday weighing 4 4/16 pounds for a total of 6 13/16 pounds. The driver was Cole Jesek while members of the team were Chris Pitcher, Preston Street and John Grunloh.
