Blackhawks Blast Blues
(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks scored three goals in a seven minute span to start the third quarter, and they held on for a 5-1 victory over the Blues to win their first round Stanley Cup Playoffs series from the United Center. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Andrew Shaw and Duncan Keith scored goals in the third for Chicago, which advances to play Colorado or Minnesota in the semifinals after winning the series 4-2. Corey Crawford turned away 35 shots in the win. Ryan Miller stopped 22 attempts in defeat. T.J. Oshie scored the only goal for St. Louis.
Rangers Double Up Flyers
(New York, NY) -- Marc Staal, Brad Richards and Dominic Moore each scored to help the Rangers build a three-goal lead and hang on for a 4-2 win against the Flyers in their first round Stanley Cup Playoffs series from Madison Square Garden. Brian Boyle added an empty-netter late in the game for New York, which is up 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 24 shots in the win. Steve Mason stopped 18 shots in the loss. Vincent Lecavalier and Claude Giroux both scored for Philadelphia. Game Six is Tuesday in Philly.
Ducks Eliminate Stars
(Dallas, TX) -- The Ducks beat the Stars 5-4 in overtime at the American Airlines Center to move on to semifinals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Nick Bonino scored two goals including the game-winner in overtime. Frederik Anderson allowed four goals in a little over 30 minutes of play before being pulled in favor of Jonas Hiller, who saved all 12 shots fired towards him. Devante Smith-Pelly also lit the lamp twice for the Ducks, who will face the winner of the Sharks-Kings series in the next round. The Stars surrendered a 4-2 lead with two minutes left after scoring three in the first period. Trevor Daely scored twice while Cody Eakin and Ryan Garbutt each netted a goal as well. Kari Lehtonen blocked 25 shots for Dallas.
