Changing the Course of History concert

Eastern Illinois University's Wind Symphony & Concert Band will be featured in concert at 7:30 p.m. September 27 in the Dvorak Concert Hall. General admission tickets are $6 and student tickets are $5.

The title of the concert is "Changing the Course of History" and will feature the compositions "Rhythm Stand" by Jennifer Higdon, "Fairest of the Fair" by John Philip Sousa, "Canzon pimi toni" by Giocanni Gabriel, and "Irish Tune from County Derry," by Percy Grainger. Other works by Omar Thomas, Katryn Salfelder Alex Shapiro, and Gustav Host will be featured in the program.

"Audiences can expect to be moved by the band’s various compositions from different time periods," said Alicia Neal, director of the ensembles. Neal is in her eighth year conducting the two ensembles.

Tickets for the Wind Symphony and Concert Band concert are $6 for general admission, $6 for seniors (62+), and $5 for students, and can be purchased online at www.doudnatix.com or at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and one hour prior to each ticketed performance.

The Doudna Fine Arts Center is located at 1860 South 7th Street in Charleston on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Convenient free parking is located near the fine arts center.
