Effingham Library Registration for Summer Read

The Library is now busy preparing for its Summer Reading Challenge, a reading program to keep area children reading and avoiding Summer Slide. Summer Slide is a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months when school isn't in session. Numerous studies show that kids who don't read during summer vacation actually slip in reading ability by the time autumn rolls around.

Registration for Summer Read begins on May 1. Participants will start logging the days they read on May 15 and the program will run through July 15. The reading Challenge will be open to all area children from Birth to age 18. No Library card is needed to participate.
