The Landscape of Guitar at EIU

Experience the harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel, the guitars of the Gipsy Kings and the colors of Van Gogh when the animated painting concert experience The Landscape of Guitar come to Eastern Illinois University’s Doudna Fine Art Center on October 25. The groundbreaking art and music production will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Center’s Recital Hall.  Tickets are now available.

 Award-winning singer-songwriters Patchouli & Terra Guitarra are a duo that takes the art of guitars to another dimension while a colorful backdrop f lush vibrant painted landscape based on the guitar theme flows thru the concert. Moving in 3D guitar birds bly through guitar mountains and over guitar rivers, cities and oceans. The painting come alive with music in this unforgettable surround art experience.

Master guitarist Bruce Kecksel and singer-songwriter Julie Patchouli blend music from their two musical projects Terra Guitarra and Parchouli. Terra Guiterra is reviewed as “one of the top nuevo-flamenco groups in the world” by Zone Music. They have four top 5 internationally charting albums including the 2017 release “Of Sea and Stars” winner of the “Best Instrumental Album of the Year” award which was #1 on the One World Music Radio UK charts. Folk festival favorite Patchouli features Julie’s sparkling lead vocals, beautiful duets and award-winning compositions. The Chicago Tribune says the duo’s “songs about harmony & healing inspire the human spirit.”

“I saw this group perform at the Arts Midwest showcase last year and their performance just blew me away,” said Dan Crews, programming director at the Doudna. ‘I enjoyed their music and the visual experience so much along with the way they interacted with the audience that I saw their performance two more times. After meeting these two lovely individuals I knew I wanted to introduce them to east central Illinois.”

Tickets for The Landscape of Guitar concert are $17 for the general public, $13 for seniors (62+) and $7 for students, and are available at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the scheduled performance.
