 Having an action plan for board elections is crucial for effective board development. If left until the last minute, nonprofit leaders can end up with board members that don't fit well with the organization's mission and vision. 

The upcoming training opportunity with Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation and Forefront, “How to Build the Best Board,” will provide leaders with nine action steps to prepare for their next board election including strategies to build a better board including recruitment, orientation, education and evaluation of new board members.

How to Build the Best Board is Thursday, September 20 from 1-3 p.m. at Dieterich Bank Corporate Center (300 Sur Woods Drive, Effingham).
