Effingham's Morgan Wilson Advances To Girls State Golf Tourney

Effingham Country Club played host to Class A girls sectional golf action Monday. Winning the sectional team championship was Nashville with a 340 followed by Metropolis Massac County 345, Eldorado 355, Mount Carmel 356, Belleville Althoff 365, Alton Marquette 379, Waterloo 391, Herrin 391, Bethalto Civic Memorial 398, Effingham 405, Okawville 414 and Pana 424.

Nashville, Metropolis Massac County and Eldorado advance as teams as the top three qualify. Also qualifying were the top 10 individuals not members of qualifying teams. Effingham's Morgan Wilson finished tied for 11th with an 37-48 -- 85 and will advance.

Also reaching state were Emma Kieffer (Mount Carmel) with a 79, Marlee Clouatre (Bethalto Civic Memorial) 80, Kendra Kessler (Sparta) 81, Adrian Brown (Carterville) 84, Abbey Leighty (Mount Carmel) 85, Gabby David (Belleville Althoff) 86, Allie Leingang (Columbia) 86, Kera Schnneker (Okawville) 87 and Macey Mooneyham (Herrin) 89.

Wilson will be competing Friday and Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur.

Also scoring for the Hearts were Alex Brummer 46-47 -- 93, Hope Collier 53-58 -- 111 and Kaylee Tonn 58-58 -- 116. Non-counting score was Madison Weis 70-63 -- 133.

Scoring for Effingham St. Anthony were Mariah Bushue tied for 20th with a 90, Madison Bushue tied for 39th with a 97, Abby Brown tied for 86th with a 113 and Kelsea Dust 105th with a 127.

Competing for Teutopolis were Casey Willenborg tied for 60th with a 103, Ellie Ruholl tied for 84th with a 112 and Haley Giles 90th with a 114.
