EHS Boys, Girls Win, Bulldogs Second in Triangular Golf Meet

Effingham High School claimed a triangular boys golf meet Wednesday. The Hearts tallied a 150 followed by Mounds Meridian 185 and Sullivan 203.

Jackson Wendling continued his under par scoring with a 35 for medalist honors along with teammate Jake Linders, who also shot a 35. Callaway Smith and Reed Schafer tallied 40s to finish out the scoring for EHS. The Hearts are now 7-2 on the season.

Sullivan was led by Sam Mulligan with a 48 while David Shroyer led Meridian with a 44. Meridian is 15-7 while Sullivan is 3-15.

"We are continuiing to play well," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Jackson was under par again and Jake played great. We had two solid 40s from the young ones, Callaway and Reed. Now we have to just keep playing smart and keep improving."

At Effingham

The Effingham girls squad picked up a 204-244 victory over Sullivan at the Effingham Country Club Wednesday.

Alex Brummer shot a 45 to claim medalist honors. Also scoring for the Hearts were Morgan Wilson 48, Hope Collier 52 and Madison Weis 59. Kaylee Tonn shot a 60.

Scoring for Sullivan were Bevetta Phelps 50, Kali Forsyth 56, Jessica Yantis 67 and Alexis Matlock 71. Non-scorer was Dani Boyer 72.

 

At Olney

Mount Carmel shot a 157 to just edge St. Anthony with a 158. Olney followed with a 161 at the East Richland Country Club Wednesday.

St. Anthony's Nick Wortman picked up medalist honors with a 36. Mount Carmel's Chase Whitsman shot a 38.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Garrett Hixenbaugh 40, Connor Greene 40 and Jared Hutchison 42. Non-counting scorers were Jeff Niebrugge 45 and Sam Wortman 49.

Competing for Mount Carmel were Whitsman 38, Iles 39, Kolb 39, Thread 41, Hipsher 42 and Dydo 45.

Competing for Olney were De Vinecia 38, Berry 40, Taylor 41, Hout 42, Shan 46 and Kowa 50.
