EHS, St. A Girls, St. A Frosh/Soph Take Golf Wins

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School finished second in a triangular girls golf match Wednesday at the Charleston Country Club.

Charleston was the winner with a 168 total followed by the Hearts 183 and Mattoon 209. Mattoon's Kira Wolf was medalist with a 39.

Scoring for the Hearts were Ava Boehm 42, Abbi Burgess 45, Keira Hirtzel 47 and Kennedy Collier 49. Non-counters were Morgan Krouse 56 and Lindsey  Stephenson 61.

Scoring for Charleston were Haley Walker 41, Paige Chappell 42, Baily Taylor 42 and Hannah Harpster 43. Non-counters were Abby Logsdon 56 and Delaney Horn 61.

Wolf led Mattoon followed by Haleigh Miller 50, Hannah Retzer 57 and Meah Butler 61. Non-counters were Katherine Carter-Alphis 64 and Natalie Curtis 69.

At Decatur

Effingham St. Anthony's junior varsity boys golf squad claimed a victory over Hartsburg-Emden at Hickory Point Golf Course Wednesday, 186-196.

The Bulldogs were led by Luke Flaig with a 40 followed by Jayden Rios 46, Ryan Schultz 47 and Alex Erickson 53. Non-counters were Darin Hutchison 63 and Jake Utz 63.

Scoring for Hartsburg-Emden were Tollin Johnson 45, Joey Matthews 46, Baine Edwards 52 anad  Pete Hultquist 53. Non-counters were Alex Eads 54 and Brady Vannaken 56.

Others competing were LSA's Dayton Pate who was medalist with a 37. Decatur St. Teresa's Cayden Brilley with a 41 and Sam Hubbard with a 71. Competing for Bement were Zach Rogers 41 and Luke Robers 52.

The St. Anthony girls took a 158-171 win over Decatur St. Teresa. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Abby Repking 51, Reagan Koester 51 and Cara Hackman 56.

Scoring for St. Teresa were Ashley Bergner 44, Ella Pruitt 63 and Maddie Allison 64.
