MACOMB -- Effingham St. Anthony captured sixth place in the Gary Saunders Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at the Macomb Country Club.
Davenport Assumption won with a score of 310 followed by Rockford Alleman 328, Monmouth-Roseville 332, Bloomington 335, Macomb 342, St. Anthony 355, Petersburg PORTA 363, Pleasant Plains 371, Pittsfield 391, Rochester 393 and Canton 402. Olympia competed but there was no team score.
"The weather was really nice in Macomb, but we were not able to take advantage of it," said St. Anthony Coach Phil Zaccari. "We had a couple pretty good nine hole scores today but were not able to finish the rounds. We started on the back nine and those scores were better. We had trouble bouncing back after a bad hole and it seemed to be contagious. Niki Dust played a good round to lead us. We did learn some things and gained valuable experience."
Niko Dust had a 43-40 -- 83 followed by Jeff Niebrugge 43-43 -- 86, Jared Hutchison 50-38 -- 88, Jacob Schmidt 45-53 -- 98, Mitchell Sager 52-47 -- 99 and Luke Ludwig 51-49 -- 100.
