For only the second time in 82 years, weather has forced the cancellation of the State Women’s Amateur Golf Championship.
The unprecedented rains that have been impacting the entire Central Illinois region have rendered Illini Country Club unplayable for at least the next several days. Continuing rain in the forecast well into next week has forced the decision to cancel the Championship.
Therefore, the 2015 Illinois State Women’s Amateur Championship has been canceled and there will not be a champion this year.
There was some good play during the qualifying round Tuesday with Shawn Rennegarbe from Addieville taking the overall Medalist honors and Jessica Yuen from Bollingbrook being awarded the Junior Medalist.
Effingham's Miranda Rohlfing was among the competitors. Rohlfing, a St. Anthony graduate, completed her sophomore year at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She finished tied for 24th with an 81 after Tuesday's round.
