St. Anthony, Effingham Advance In Girls Golf

Effingham and St. Anthony advanced from the Class 1A St. Anthony Girls Golf Regional, played Wednesday at Effingham Country Club.
Mount Carmel was the team champion with a 361 followed by Effingham 385, St. Anthony 390, Salem 428, Teutopolis 442, Centralia 465, Greenville 492, Woodlawn 511 and Waltonville 558.
Mount Carmel's Morgan Tewell, a senior, was medalist with an 83. St. Anthony's Madison Bushue, a senior, took second with an 85. T-town's Casey Willenborg, a senior, was fourth with an 88, Effingham's Morgan Wilson, a senior, took fifth with an 89. The Hearts also had Alex Brummer, a sophomore, in the top 10 in seventh place with a score of 93.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals not members of qualifying teams advance to the Zeigler-Royalton Sectional Monday. The event will be held at the Franklin County Country Club in West Frankfort.
Effingham team members were Wilson 89, Brummer 93, Kaylee Tonn 101, Hope Collier 102, Madison Weis 114 and Camryn Heuerman 153.
St. Anthony team members were Madison Bushue 85, Mariah Bushue 99, Kyla Burton 99, Abbie Schmidt 107 and McKenna Steineman 163.
Playing for Mount Carmel were Tewell, Abbey Leighty 87, Mary Schroeder 95, Mallory Raber 96, Jordan Keepes 108 and Baylie Ray 115.
Also advancing from the area as individuals were T-town's Casey Willenborg with an 88 and Madison Magee, a freshman, with a 111. Others advancing were Megan Gallatin (Salem), Lacey McTall (Centralia), Jerrica Haley (Waltonville), Erin Leggitt (Oblong), Eryn Smith (Greenville), Emiy Baer (Salem), Leanna Ferguson (Robinson) and Riley Anderson (Salem).
At Windsor
One lone area player advanced from the Class 1A Windsor Golf Regional Wednesday.
Windsor's Katie Greuel, a sophomore, advanced as an individual with a score of 104.
Charleston won the team title with a 344 followed by Pana 401, Mount Zion 412, Tuscola 428, Bethany Okaw Valley 440, Sullivan 533 and Paris 566. Charleston's Lauren Chappell, a sophomore, was medalist for the event with a 73.
