Hearts Third at Apollo Conference Girls Golf Meet

MATTOON -- Charleston High School won the championship of the Apollo Conference Girls Golf Tournament Monday at Meadowview Golf Course.

The Trojans tallied 363 followed by Mattoon 380, Effingham 384, Salem 417 and Mount Zion 436. Taylorville had two golfers compete.

Charleston's Lauren Chappell, a sophomore, repeated as the individual champion with a three-over-par 75. Ashley Miller of Mount Zion, took second with an 82.

Effingham's Morgan Wilson finished fifth with a 90 and was named All-Conference. Other All-Conference were Chappell, Sherwood, Charleston's Morgan Sherwood third with an 85, Salem's Megan Gallatin fourth with an 86, Wilson, Mattoon's Lauren Spain sixth with a 91, Katie Holsapple seventh with a 94 and Taylor Beason eighth with a 94.
