EHS Boys, Girls Win; T-town Claims Victory

MATTOON -- The Effingham High School girls golf squad picked up three victories in a quadrangular golf meet Thursday.
The Hearts tallied 183 followed by Mattoon 186, Effingham St. Anthony 193 and Salem 196. Effingham's Morgan Wilson and Salem's Megan Gallatin tied for medalist honors with a 43 each.
Also competing for the Hearts were Alex Brummer 44, Hope Collier 48, Kaylee Tonn 48, Madison Weis 56 and Camryn Heuerman 71.
Competing for St. Anthony were Madison Bushue 46, Mariah Bushue 47, Abbie Schmidt 47, Kyla Burton 53 and McKenna Steineman 62.
Competing for Mattoon were Lauren Spain 45, Taylor Beason 46, Whitney Meaker 46, Katie Holsapple 49, Kaylie Nottmeyer 53 and Natalie Zimmer 54.
Competing for Salem were Gallatin 43, Mallory Daniels 46, Emily Baer 52, Cara Cantrell 55, Riley Anderson 56 and Sydney Holste 88.
At Casey
The Effingham boys pushed their record to a perfect 8-0 by downing Casey-Westfield 156-197.
Jackson Wendling's 37 led the Hearts while Callaway Smith added a 39, Jake Linders a 40 and Reed Schafer a 40. Non-counting scores were Ryan Sandifer 41, Matt Linders 41 and Sean Sandifer 47.
"We had a real solid effort today," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "We are starting to have everyone play solid each night. Hopefully we will take this momentum into the Charleston Invitational tomorrow and have a nice finish there."
Low score for the Warriors was Jon Pajak with a 44. Also scoring were Kaleb Repp 46, Zach Pendelton 51 and Brock Levindowski 56. Non-counters were Patrick Hacker 57 and Tanner Brown 57.
At Teutopolis
The Wooden Shoes of Teutopolis edged Shelbyville, 172-179 at the Effingham Country Club Thursday.
Scoring for the Shoes were Dylan Buenker 41, Christian Deters 42, Evan Schlink 44 and Braydan Bushue 45. Non-counters were Mat Weber with a 53 and Keegan Meyer with a 47. Buenker was the medalist for the match.
At Ramsey
Ramsey claimed a 165-168 victory over Altamont at the Ramsey Lake Golf Course Thursday.
Co-medalists were Altamont's Adam Mayhaus with a 39 and Ramsey's Michael Lay with a 39.
Scoring for the Indians were Mayhaus, Logan Deadmond 42, Noah Kopplin 42 and Dylan Miller 45. Non-counters were Cameron Jackman 45 and Luke Behl 51. Altamont is now 4-13 on the season.
Scoring for Ramsey were Lay 39, Marcus Cass 41, Mason Fesser 41 and Carter Hunt 44. Non-counters were Brady Reiss 44 and Cameron Neisler 47.
At Mattoon
Effingham St. Anthony played a junior varsity match at Mattoon's Rogala Golf Links Thursday and came out a winner.
The Bulldogs scored 164 to Mattoon's 181. Niko Dust medaled for the Bulldogs with a 38. Gus Koester and Jacob Schmidt contributed 41s each while Mitchell Sager had a 44. Also competing were Trey Koester 52, Ethan Rozene 52, Will Willenborg 52, Augie Heal 54, Derek Kruger 63 and Kyle Willenborg 73.
Scoring for Mattoon were Otto 41, Rabouin 44, Bullack 48 and Jurka 48. Non-counters were Meaker 49, Morrison 53, Righter 53, Atkinson 55, Letner 57 and Maxedon 59.
