EHS Unbeaten in Boys Golf, Hearts Girls Win, T-town Claims Boys Victory

Effingham High School remained unbeaten in boys golf with a 150-205 victory over Charleston Tuesday at the Effingham Country Club.

The Hearts' Jackson Wendling shot exceptionally well with a three-under-par 33 for medailst honors. Also scoring for the Hearts were Callaway Smith with a 37, Jake Linders with a 38 and Sean Sandifer with a 42.

Non-counting scores for the Hearts were Matt Linders 42, Ryan Sandifer 43, Reed Schafer 45, Jacob Sigg 52 and Cole Hagen 68.

"Jackson continued his great play as of late," said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. "Callaway scrambled well and shot one-over-par 37. Jake had one bad hole and still had a 38. Matt Lnders had his best nine holes of his career with a 42."

Scoring for the Trojans were Grayson Gough 48, Jarad Blagg 51, Drew Tresslar 52 and Ryan Smitley 52. Non-counting scores were Kurt Smith 54, Kendall Elliott 54 and Alex Geisler 57.

 

At Pana

The Effingham girls squad also continued some outstanding play with a triangular victory over Pana and Mount Zion.

The Hearts shot a 178 team total as Morgan Wilson tallied a 40, Alex Brummer a 42, Kaylee Tonn a 47 and Hope Collier a 49. Madison Weis had a 63 and Camryn Heuerman a 68.

Pana finished with a 198 as Hannah Miller tallied a 43, Olivia Kamer a 47, Teagan Strom a 50 and Miranda Foster a 58. Non-counters were Rebecca Miller 58 and Anna Osborn 60.

Mount Zion finished third with a 210 total. Ashley Miller earned medalist honors with a 39. Liz Bird tallied a 53 while Baylie Wisley had a 56 and Courtney Barthel a 62.

EHS improves its record to 10-3 on the season.

 

At Teutopolis

Robinson came calling and claimed a 160-178 boys golf victory over Teutopolis Tuesday.

Scoring for the Wooden Shoes were Christian Deters 43, Evan Schlink 43, Braydan Bushue 45 and Keegan Meyer 47. Non-counting scores were Will Schlink 50, Dylan Buenker 51, Mat Weber 57 and Jake Wendt 68.

 

At Altamont

Flora tallied a 189-194 win over Altamont. The Indians drop to 4-12 on the season. The Wolves' Nick Trotter was medalist with a 40.

Altamont's Adam Mayhaus tallied a 42. Also scoring were Noah Kopplin 48, Logan Deadmond 51 and Cameron Jackman 53. Non-counters were Dylan Miller 58 and Luke Behl 63.

Flora's scorers were Trotter, Zach Alison 46, Ryder Collins 51 and Trenton Brown 52. Non-counting scores were Colton Kitley 52 and Ty Warren 53.

Altamont JV scores were Robert Davis 46 and Austin Wendling 59.
