Panthers Hold Off Patriots

(Charlotte, NC) -- Tom Brady was intercepted in the end zone as time expired and the Panthers preserved a 24-20 win over the Patriots at Bank of America Stadium on "Monday Night Football." Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith says they couldn't make mistakes if they wanted to win.

Cam Newton hit Ted Ginn Jr. for a 25-yard touchdown pass with just over a minute to play to give Carolina the lead. Newton finished with 209 yards passing and three TD's while rushing for 62 yards in the win. The Panthers improved to 7-and-3 with their sixth straight victory and remain one game back of the Saints for first place in the NFC South. Brady ended with 296 passing yards and a touchdown throw to Rob Gronkowski.  Stevan Ridley added 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but lost a fumble along the way. New England dipped to 7-3, but still holds a two-game lead on the Dolphins and Jets in the AFC East.

Bears Rule Out Cutler For Rams Game

(Lake Forest, IL) -- The Bears are ruling quarterback Jay Cutler out for this week's game against the Rams. Head coach Marc Trestman says Josh McCown will make another start for Chicago. Cutler's time frame remains week-to-week, but he says he hops to return by December 1st at Minnesota.

Trestman says defensive end Shea McClellin should resume practicing when the team gathers Wednesday. He has missed two games with a pulled hamstring.  Trestman adds that defensive linemen Jeremiah Ratliff and Stephen Paea are week-to-week with injuries.
