Colts Meet Titans in Thursday NFL Game

Colts Clash With Titans On Thursday Night

(Nashville, TN) -- AFC South rivals clash in this week's Thursday night NFL matchup as the Indianapolis Colts take on the Tennessee Titans at LP Field.  The Colts are coming off their worst performance of the season, a 38-8 home loss to the Rams. Andrew Luck threw three interceptions and also had a fumble returned for a touchdown as Indy fell to 6-and-3 on the season. The Colts still have a two-game lead on the Titans, who lost 29-27 to previously winless Jacksonville this past Sunday. Tennessee will be without quarterback Jake Locker, who is out for the season with a foot injury. Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the start for the Titans. He was 22-of-33 for 264 yards, two TD's and no picks in relief of Locker against the Jags.

 

Tavon Austin Up For Rookie Of The Week

(St. Louis, MO) -- Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin is a nominee for the NFL Rookie of the Week. Austin scored three touchdowns for the Rams on Sunday, including a 98-yard punt return for a TD.  He also racked up 138 yards on two receptions in the Rams' 38-8 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Rams will return to the field November 24th when they host the Chicago Bears.

 

Cutler, Briggs Out Vs. Ravens

(Lake Forest, CA) -- The Chicago Bears will be without quarterback Jay Cutler and linebacker Lance Briggs for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Marc Trestman made the announcement on Wednesday. Cutler injured his ankle last Sunday in his first game back since hurting his groin in mid-October.  Briggs is out with a fractured shoulder.

 

Bears Ink Martin

(Lake Forest, IL) -- The Chicago Bears signed safety Derrick Martin to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Martin played in five games for New England last season, recording one sack and two tackles. The seven-year veteran has appeared in 66 games with the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and Pats.

 

Sam Hurd Gets 15-Year Sentence On Drug Trafficking

Former Bears and Cowboys wide receiver Sam Hurd is getting 15-years behind bars on a drug-trafficking conviction. The "Chicago Tribune" reports the one-time NIU player had pleaded guilty back in April to conspiring to possess and distribute marijuana and cocaine. The 28-year-old Hurd has been behind bars since a judge revoked his bond over a year ago. He was arrested in December of 2011 near Chicago after getting a kilo of cocaine from an undercover policeman.

 

Former BYU, L.A. Raiders Player Dies

(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Friends and family are mourning the death of a former BYU and L.A. Raiders football player. Former BYU coach Lavelle Edwards says Todd Christiansen passed away Wednesday morning.

According to the BUY Cougars Twitter account, the 57-year-old Christiansen died from surgical complications. He played for the Cougars from 1974 to 1977 and in 1982 went to the Raiders. He retired from professional football in 1987 and was a commentator for NBC and ESPN.

 

Manning Still Expected To Play Sunday Despite Not Practicing

(Denver, CO) -- Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is still expected to play on Sunday despite missing most of Wednesday's practice. He says a slight injury meant his participation was limited.

Manning re-aggravated an ankle injury during last week's win over San Diego.  Kickoff against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs is 6:30 p.m. from Sports Authority Field.
