Panthers Romp Bucs On "Thursday Night Football"

(Tampa, FL) -- The Panthers hot streak continued with Cam Newton leading Carolina to a 31-13 stomping of the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on "Thursday Night Football." Newton threw for two touchdowns and added another on the ground, while compiling 271 total yards. During the Panthers three-game winning streak they have outscored their opponents 96-to-38. Newton says this was a complete team win.   

Carolina is 4-3. The hot seat for Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schiano didn't get any cooler. Tim Wright's 10-yard touchdown reception from Mike Glennon came during garbage time in the final quarter.  Glennon threw for 275 yards and Vincent Jackson hauled in five passes totaling 79 yards.  Tampa has fallen to 0-and-7 including an 0-and-4 record at home.

 

NFL To Play Three Games In London In 2014

(London, England) -- The NFL will showcase three games in London for the 2014 International Series. The Jaguars will host the Cowboys, the Falcons will host the Lions and the Raiders will host the Dolphins. All of the games will be played at Wembley Stadium. Four of the six teams will be making their first trip to London to play, while the Jaguars will play there every season through 2016. The dates have not been determined.

 

Broncos' Manning Returns To Practice

(Englewood, CO) -- Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is expected to play without complication against Washington. Manning was a full participant in practice yesterday, one day after sitting out with an ankle injury suffered in Sunday night's loss to the Colts. Head coach John Fox says he thought Manning looked just fine, taking his full workload. The 6-1 Broncos host Robert Griffin the Third and the 2-4 Redskins Sunday.

 

Rams Made Inquiry About Brett Favre

(Earth City, MO) -- The Rams expressed at least mild interest in signing former NFL star quarterback Brett Favre, according to multiple reports.  The Rams wouldn't comment on the reports. They did work out veteran Tyler Thigpen and signed two other quarterbacks earlier in the week in trying to add depth behind new starter Kellen Clemens.

Future hall of fame quarterback Favre isn't coming out of retirement any time soon. ESPN reports he declined an offer this week from the Rams. Favre retired for good in 2011 following stints with the Jets and Vikings after a lengthy career with the Packers.

The Rams are prepping for the national spotlight in Week Eight. They play the NFC West rival Seahawks on "Monday Night Football" at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams will look to bounce back from Sunday's 30-15 loss at Carolina that has them back under .500 at 3-4. Seattle leads the division at 6-1. These teams split their two meetings last season.

 

Illini Host Spartans

(Champaign, IL) -- The Illinois Fighting Illini host the Michigan State Spartans tomorrow afternoon on national television. The Illini are 3-3 but have struggled to an 0-and-2 Big Ten mark. Michigan State is 6-and-1 and a perfect 3-0 in the conference.

 

Notre Dame On The Road

(Air Force Academy, CO) -- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are on the road to play the Air Force Falcons tomorrow evening on CBS Sports Network.  The Irish are 5-2 on the year after a narrow 14-10 win over USC last weekend. The Falcons are 1-6 overall following a 27-20 setback to San Diego State last time out.
